The ECX OCTANE was developed to cater for clients who want a full sized luxury Off-Road caravan with the ability to store ATV’s, Bikes and other Recreational Toys.

The Octane Toy Hauler.

Escape. Play. Compete.

  • The Octane platform introduces carefully considered loading and storage solutions designed to improve usability both while travelling and once set up at camp. Flexible rear storage zones, external access points and practical tie-down integration allow customers to safely transport equipment while maintaining internal living functionality and touring convenience.

  • The Octane was designed for customers whose adventures extend beyond the caravan itself. Whether carrying motocross bikes, e-bikes, recovery equipment or additional touring gear, the platform provides a practical solution without relying on external trailers or overloaded tow vehicles. The result is a cleaner, more integrated touring setup designed around flexibility and usability.

  • One of the biggest challenges with toy hauler platforms is maintaining proper towing behaviour once additional equipment is loaded. The Octane platform was engineered with weight distribution and load positioning in mind to help maintain towing stability and predictable handling characteristics. This becomes increasingly important when carrying motorcycles, watercraft or heavier touring equipment across varying road conditions.

  • The Octane focuses heavily on ease of use, both on the road and while set up in camp. Systems are designed to be intuitive and accessible, reducing unnecessary complication and improving the overall touring experience. From off-grid management through to storage access and setup procedures, the goal is to create a caravan that is straightforward to operate without compromising capability. The result is a platform that feels refined, efficient and comfortable to live with over extended touring periods.

Why The Octane Exists

The ECX and ECX-R Octane platforms were developed for travellers wanting the capability of an off-road caravan combined with the flexibility to carry adventure equipment, motorcycles, e-bikes, quads, Go-Karts or additional touring gear. Rather than compromising living space or overloading tow vehicles with trailers and external carriers, the Octane integrates storage, usability and touring comfort into a single engineered platform designed for active Australian lifestyles.

  • Many traditional toy haulers prioritise storage space while compromising comfort and touring practicality. The Octane platform was developed to maintain the refined touring capability and off-grid comfort expected from an Elross caravan while integrating additional storage and loading flexibility into the design. This creates a platform equally suited to remote touring, motorsport weekends and long-distance travel.

  • The Octane models continue the Elross philosophy of practical off-grid touring capability through integrated lithium battery systems, solar charging, water management and efficient appliance selection. The platform is designed to support extended travel while also accommodating the additional power and storage demands often associated with active touring lifestyles.

  • Like every Elross platform, the Octane was developed around the realities of Australian touring conditions. Corrugations, remote travel, long distances and changing terrain all influence the way the platform is engineered, from chassis design and suspension integration through to storage layout and system protection.

  • The Octane platform was designed with long-term durability in mind. From the in-house engineered chassis and composite construction methods through to timber-free cabinetry and protected system integration, every decision focuses on reducing wear, minimising maintenance and improving reliability over time. This creates a caravan better suited to the harsh conditions of Australian touring while maintaining structural integrity and usability throughout its lifespan.

Same Engineering Foundations

  • The Octane starts with an in-house designed and fabricated chassis built in Western Australia. This allows us to control weight distribution, centre of gravity and suspension integration from the beginning, creating a more stable and confidence-inspiring towing experience

  • The Octane uses advanced composite body construction to improve strength, insulation and long-term durability. With insulated wall, roof and floor systems, the structure is designed to reduce weight, improve thermal performance and minimise the risks commonly associated with traditional framed builds.

  • Inside the Octane, by Optioning timber-free cabinetry, supports the same durability-first philosophy. Using composite cabinetry panels reduces weight, improves moisture resistance and removes traditional timber-based materials from the build, creating a cleaner and more stable interior system for off-road touring.

  • The Octane is designed with practical off-grid capability, not unnecessary complexity. Its electrical, solar, battery and water systems are selected and integrated to deliver reliable performance in real-world touring conditions, with a focus on balance, efficiency and usability.

While the Octane introduces additional flexibility and equipment carrying capability, it remains grounded in the same engineering philosophy that defines every Elross caravan — structural integrity, towing confidence, practical usability and long-term durability in demanding touring conditions.
