The 2027 ECX

Built for Balanced Touring .

  • The ECX was developed to solve one of the biggest challenges in modern caravanning — excessive weight. Many off-road caravans continue to grow larger and heavier, placing more strain on tow vehicles and reducing overall usability. The ECX focuses on intelligent weight reduction through composite construction, balanced chassis engineering and efficient system integration. This creates a caravan that remains highly capable off-grid while improving towing behaviour, payload flexibility and overall touring practicality. The result is a more manageable and confidence-inspiring caravan without sacrificing the features required for serious touring.

  • The ECX exists to provide a more balanced and confidence-inspiring towing experience. Rather than building around maximum size and specification, the platform was designed around centre of gravity, weight distribution and suspension integration from the outset. This approach improves stability, predictability and handling across varying road conditions, particularly in off-road environments. Combined with the in-house engineered chassis and Cruisemaster XTF Airbag Suspension, the ECX delivers a towing experience that feels controlled and practical for extended touring, without the bulk and heaviness often associated with larger off-road caravans. *combined with the optional RE-Lite cabinetry

  • The ECX was designed for customers wanting genuine off-grid and off-road capability without the unnecessary complexity that often comes with larger builds. Every layout and system within the platform focuses on real-world usability, efficient storage and practical living space. This allows the caravan to remain functional and comfortable while still being manageable to tow and operate. By prioritising practicality over excessive size or unnecessary inclusions, the ECX delivers a touring platform better suited to how many Australians actually travel.ription text goes here

  • The ECX focuses heavily on ease of use, both on the road and while set up in camp. Systems are designed to be intuitive and accessible, reducing unnecessary complication and improving the overall touring experience. From off-grid management through to storage access and setup procedures, the goal is to create a caravan that is straightforward to operate without compromising capability. The result is a platform that feels refined, efficient and comfortable to live with over extended touring periods.

Why The ECX Exists

The ECX platform was developed to solve a growing issue within the off-road caravan market — increasing size, weight and complexity. Many modern caravans have become heavier, taller and more difficult to tow, often prioritising specification lists over real-world touring practicality. The ECX was engineered to deliver a more balanced approach, combining genuine off-road capability, efficient off-grid performance and practical usability in a platform better suited to how many Australians actually travel with a mixture of blended park stays and minor remote off grid work.

  • Many off-road caravans continue to increase in size and weight as more systems, storage and luxury features are added. While impressive on paper, this can negatively impact towing behaviour, fuel consumption and overall usability. The ECX was designed to counter this trend through intelligent engineering, composite construction methods and careful system integration. for 2026 we have stripped back the Battery and Spare wheels to save up to 80kg immediately off the tare weight. The thought process is : capable without becoming unnecessarily oversized or difficult to manage.

  • The ECX exists to provide a more confidence-inspiring towing experience. Rather than simply scaling down a larger caravan, the platform was engineered around balanced weight distribution, centre of gravity management and suspension integration from the outset. This improves towing stability and overall control across varying conditions, making the caravan feel more predictable and manageable both on-road and off-road. The goal was to create a van that works with the tow vehicle, not against it.

  • The ECX was developed for customers wanting genuine touring capability without unnecessary complication. Every aspect of the platform focuses on practical usability, from layout design and storage solutions through to off-grid integration and overall setup efficiency. Rather than chasing excessive specification figures, the ECX prioritises how the caravan actually functions during day-to-day travel, making it better suited to extended touring and light remote Australian conditions.

  • A common misconception in the industry is that bigger systems automatically create better off-grid performance. The ECX was designed around system efficiency and intelligent integration rather than simply increasing battery or solar figures. By combining efficient appliances, balanced power management and practical water storage solutions, the platform delivers reliable off-grid capability without the unnecessary weight and complexity often associated with oversized systems. Of course you can upgrade to larger systems with in our options list.

  • The ECX platform was designed with long-term durability in mind. From the in-house engineered chassis and composite construction methods through to timber-free cabinetry and protected system integration, every decision focuses on reducing wear, minimising maintenance and improving reliability over time. This creates a caravan better suited to the harsh conditions of Australian touring while maintaining structural integrity and usability throughout its lifespan.

Same Engineering Philosophy

  • The ECX starts with an in-house designed and fabricated chassis built in Western Australia. This allows us to control weight distribution, centre of gravity and suspension integration from the beginning, creating a more stable and confidence-inspiring towing experience

  • The ECX uses advanced composite body construction to improve strength, insulation and long-term durability. With insulated wall, roof and floor systems, the structure is designed to reduce weight, improve thermal performance and minimise the risks commonly associated with traditional framed builds.

  • Inside the ECX, by Optioning timber-free cabinetry, supports the same durability-first philosophy. Using composite cabinetry panels reduces weight, improves moisture resistance and removes traditional timber-based materials from the build, creating a cleaner and more stable interior system for off-road touring.

  • The ECX is designed with practical off-grid capability, not unnecessary complexity. Its electrical, solar, battery and water systems are selected and integrated to deliver reliable performance in real-world touring conditions, with a focus on balance, efficiency and usability.

The ECX is built around the same core engineering principles that define every Elross caravan. The goal is simple: create a lighter, practical off-road platform without compromising strength, safety, durability or off-road capability.
